History of
Learning Communities

The Learning Communities Program at USF began in 1994, with the goal of improving the academic environment for students and faculty. The Program strives to offer its students the advantages of a small college with all the diversity, excitement and opportunities of a large metropolitan university. The first Learning Community was made available to students in Fall of 1995. Since then, nearly 500 students have completed the Learning Community program. Learning Community students, on average, complete their 4-year degrees with a 3.2 GPA or higher. Many former Learning Community students continue their education through graduate studies either at USF or other universities throughout the country.
