What Former Students Have to Say About Learning Communities

“Being a part of a Learning Community was definitely one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had at the University. The program provided me with an extraordinary and supportive staff, surrounded me with open-minded peers, and made the transition from high school to college seamless. Learning Communities has impacted my experience in the classroom by allowing me to be a more interactive and outgoing student. There is definitely a difference between a student that is the product of a Learning Communities environment and those that have just been going through the motions. You will see it…and so will your professors!” -- Laura Fuentes, Senior, Communication Major, Business Minor, Brandon, Florida
“The Learning Community is an adventure unlike anything else. It truly is some of the best times of my experience at the University of South Florida. The Learning Community was a transition from high school to college. It showed me how to manage my time, develop lasting relationships with my peers, develop leadership skills, and how to have fun while learning. The Learning Community allows a freethinking environment that I truly appreciate. It teaches you how to think, not what to think. I am grateful for the experiences of the Learning Community.” -- Christopher Marshall, Junior, Political Science/History Major, Valrico, Florida

Where are Former Learning Community Students Now

Look around you. Former learning community students seem to be everywhere. There are learning community students in student government, in the honors program, on the staff of the university newspaper. They are finishing out their degrees; they are in graduate school, both at USF and at other institutions throughout the country. A former learning community student was homecoming king and another was named to USA Today’s All Academic Team. Ask around. Maybe you already know someone who was in a learning community…
