Stars :
always a great fan of Jyothi- good person in general. Giri And Uk
are good friends of mine but most of the time they disappoint me
since they throw their wicket unnecessarily. Birju is great in
integrating people and forming a good team. I like Gudi for his
enthusiasm and he gave lot of players to SIA(one of them is me)
tournament.

Stars:

Well there are many and as we have other categories below, I will
write about the people who are stars not just in the field, but but
also off the field. Ravi (Match Fixers), amazing character and a
great captain I have ever played for. He is so cool and composed.
Next Uday Kiran for his determination. Hyd Tigers were a very good
team from the time they started playing, but something prevented
them from winning it for a long long long time. He even told us
that he will not leave USF without winning a tournament.. well guess
what they are now back to back champions. Great one dude. Briju,
Anurag and Harish, they are the best committee members I have
ever worked with. I have got enthu to play cricket every weekend
only after seeing how much enthu Briju and Anurag had. They used to
send emails every weekend when they were here that there is cricket
on Saturday at 4 PM on Soccer Fields. If you dont see their email
on Friday then something is wrong, either one of them dropped dead.

Teams:

Match Fixers

(4 times best batsman award, 4 times best bowler award, an MVP, I
dont know how many times Babar won this best keeper award), well
this is a star studded team. Was very happy when I made in to this
team.

Titans
(3 time MVPs, Tejas & Chetan in one team with Pranav, are u kidding
me)

Hyd Tigers:
Stars like Jyothi, UK, Sandeep and Giri, man this team should have
won their first tournament long time back. Better late than never,
they have come hard now. All these years of losses have them a
formidable team now.

Moments:

Happiest moment:
Defeating Company in finals and winning the tournament for the first
time.

Sad moment:
Losing to Yodha the next tournament. We lost in the last over where
they have to score 5 runs. Subodh I will never forgive u for the
boundary u scored.

Tornadoes (stats says it all)

Bolwer:
Pranav (Titans, Yodha... thats it or did he play for any other team
and win a cup), Shiva Sr (Match Fixers), Saleem (Company)

Batsman:
Without doubt goes to Rajesh Ram (MF)... well every one knows the
class of this player. He is ever consistent. I like the way Murugan
(Bluez) plays. I think he has the record for scoring the highest
run in SIA, it was Rajesh who had the record before that.

All rounder:
Sandeep, Alok and Tejas.

Fastest bowler:
Pranav (Never seen any one really punishing this bowler in any of
the tournaments he had played).

Hard Hitter:
There are quiet a few: Tejas(Tornadoes), Muzzafar Bhai (Company,
missing that action off late), Prince (Match Fixers), Hari (Rebels,
a tipped ball off his bat went for a huge six, imagine what would
have happened had he got it at the sweet point)

Fielder: Gokul (MF) is best at slip, Sandeep and Jyothi (Hyd
Blues), Naren (MF)at Short Covers, Tejas (Tornadoes) at deep mid
wicket.

Match

These are my top three (all in the finals):

1. MF restricting company for 39 runs.

2. Tornadoes defending a score of 45 runs against
Trojans. Trojans won with one more over to spare.
Tornadoes played a great game that night and Ram was
superb at bowling.

3. MF defending 49 against Yodha... Yodha won with
three balls to spare.

I like to play all sports (you need not be a player for that, just

I claim to have founded Smashing Guys and Bluez..:-).
I bowl the opening spell for my team..those who know
me will know about slower deliveries.I have got most
of the wickets on Slower deliveries than faster ones.
Hats off to the guys who are organizing the USF
tournaments. Those 2 days is a like a cricket festival
and we enjoy every moment.

I have far too many good memories here at USF. I should say all
those saturday and sunday evenings when we played cricket was real
fun. The discussions just before a tournment was really good.

I certainly say when we won for the first time in summer 2004 was a
real special one. I really enjoyed my innings in the final and the
partenership with UK.

IT has to be Sandeep and Jyothi my teammates. Sandeep is an amazing
batsman who reads the situation perfectly. Jyothi is awesome he
adjusts to the bowlers better than anybody i have seen here.

It is Sandeep . Very few would arugue.

Fastest bowler
Balaji. Doesn't look like a fast bowler but bowls at scary pace.

Hard Hitter
My team mate Fabricio El santoro ( Giri dada) . I call him little
dynamo. But doesn't stay long enough at the crease.

Fielder
It is Diwakar Pellakuru. I haven't seen any better outfielder than
this guy. He is a joy to watch in field.

Match
The Summer Knockout tournmnet final is an outstnading match. I also
rate the matches we played in the last tournment against bluez and
ECC in semis are real joy.

I have a lot of good moments, but I consider two
moments very Important

1:- The very first time when I passed the score of 200
points in Bowling. This is special to me because I
passed 200 before Vinit Dixit, the bowling champ. I
still have to beat his best score of 277

2:- Hitting Subodh for a huge six in a practice Match,
It flew like a rocket and went miles. But the special
thing is that Tejas Desai was delighted seeing that,
he was the first one who ran and shook my hands. By
the way Tejas was the sixer machine of SIA


Worst sporting moment

There are a lot of them too, but I think I felt the
worst when I could find a single team that would take
me in their side in Spring 1997 SIA tournament.
Specially when I was in the peak of my game.

Winning a very close game against island crew in spring 2003. Like
gokul said it would be remembered by every matchfixer. We went on to
win the SIA tournament. Personally, I enjoyed when I picked umer
(company) twice. He is a great player.

When we played against Hyd tigers I lost my
temper and had bad time in the middle. I regret that. I have
controlled myself from then on. Again, when we lost the finals to
Yodha in fall 03. But we were happy with the way we fought defending
a very small score.

In the loss against our MatchFixers First match
against TITANS , We lost some early wickets and
then I and Naren had a good partnership. We ran for
everyball. We ran a single if it goes straight to the
fielder else we made two runs in case of a single
run.. It was great running with Naren as we have great
understanding.

When we,MatchFixers, won the tournament. We were so
desperate to win that Tournament because we made that
Big ScoreBoard with lots of work. So we wanted to win
that tournament and we did it.

Finally, I was so happy when Naren got the MVP award
that Finals we won. Because we, team members, knew
Naren's great bowling with lots of improved discipline
and extra hardwork that Tournament.

admire them a lot because these are the some guys that
I know FOR SURE who helped for the USF CRICKET Growth.
We are enjoying cricket now in USF only because of
these guys. I can remember the days in 1999 when these
guys wait in the ground with Stumps, bat and ball for
everybody to come and play. They were the guys who
made the EMAIL list with all of the cricket enthu guys
and organized weekend cricket for everybody.
This is what we miss now a days.


Kunal,Muzzafer Bhai for their Explosive Batting : I
loved bowling to them (when I used to bowl).


Tejas and Ambirish : Wow great characters, Nice
persons and the BEST Allrounders I have ever known in
SIA Cricket.


Akhil, Salim Bhai – For their great Bowling!


Uday Kiren and Jyothi : For their Talent.They are very
unlucky to not have won a SIA tournament.

Umair and Company Guys: For his professionalism. Once
he knicked a ball to the keeper and just
Walked out even when we never heard the noice. And
ofcourse for his batting talent. I like Company Team
for their discipline.


And ofcourse my team members of MatchFixers(I could
write 107 pages).
I have forgot about so many others to mention but
atleast I remembered some.

I feel I am always lucky because I compare with those
people who went to do MS in Suny Buffalo.
Man they can play only CHESS and other indoor games.

Moments

To be a part of winning team last summer playing with Hyderabad
Tigers. I always wanted to experience the semis or the finals....and
i got more than that.... My match winning bowling performance
against Match Fixers last fall when we were facing defeat ....i was
bowling fast and in the right places....i think my final figures were
4-1-8-3...something like that...


WHO DO YOU THINK IS THE ALL TIME BEST USF:-

Team

Have only been playing for 2 yrs now...but from what i have seen, it
has to be Yodha...what a good team....I am talking about the team
which had Alok, Sachin, Mama, Nishant.....the team which i saw in
2003 fall...

All rounder

Sandeep....he does it all and skillfully too....cannot imagine Hyd
Tigers without sandeep

Batsman

I am bad at remebering names Birju....but the ones that come to mind
are Giri for his hitting abilities, Kunal and Nishant for their
technique and Umair for both...

Bowler

The best bowler i have faced is Saleem from Company....his yorkers
in the end overs are awesome...always troubles the batsman. As as
said earlier Bala is sometimes unplayable when on song.

Hard hitter

The best hard hitting i have seen is from Giri in one of the
preliminary matches of the summer tournament. Such ferocious clean
hitting....they all fell way beyond the boundary line...we should
have given 12 runs for some of those...:-)

Fastest bowler

The fastest bowler in my opinion is Chandrasekhar....a lot of them
do not know him as he has played only 1 tournament with us for
Samurai team. One of his short balls went above the keepers head and
fell just before the boundary line....he plays for us in season ball
cricket and oh boy he is fast...

Fielder

I am not sure if i am getting the name right here...but Krishna i
guess, he used to lead the Match Fixers team. He used to stand in
covers and i have not seen him missing anything there...

Match

The final game of the Summer tournamet. we batted first and were i
think 20 something for 4/5 wkts in the first 10 overs. Then some
good batting from bamini and Uday took us to a respectable score of
60+. after that we bowled exceptionally well to get the opposition
out for a low score and won by a
good margin.....

The other game which i would, i guess rate much higher was the one i
umpired between Hyd Tigers and Bluez....it was a see-saw game until
the end with some of the best fielding efforts i saw in SIA, i
cannot forget the catch jyothi took in that game in his
followthrough...brilliant stuff. Hyd Tigers finally won that game by
a run.

I am from Hyderabad in India. I work for Verizon. watching and
playing cricket has been my passion since i was a kid, i remember
knocking on friends doors in summes pushing them to come to the
ground to play cricket and getting stares (and sometimes mouthfuls)
from their moms. the other sports i play are table tennis and
tennis. also love to gamble a lot...so any poker players out there...

were the underdogs having fielded a fledgling team and were meeting
the mighty Yodha....When they won the toss and elected to bat to
score well we were in trouble. But after a nice opening partnership
we won with overs to spare...Somehow the match triggers some sweet
memories( point after: Have personally never lost to Yodha)

tons of them...best one i rem is when jyothi made a spectacular run
out during our first final and then shouted like hewitt pumping his
fists while still on the ground..normally he is so calm, so to see
him with such intesity was good...also giris batting againt
matchfixers in the semis of that tournament...satishs "diving"
catches last tournament....bamini's only 6 at usf...many many more...

this one is tough...our team is close to being that but not there
yet...i guess i hv to chose btwn the teams that won the most, titans
n trojans...probably titans when they had pranav, chetan, zeeshan,
kunal n tejas at the same time....

All rounder
this one is damn easy..sandeep all the way...no one even comes
close...we hv had so many guys who cud bat n bowl exceptionally
well, like jyothi, chetan, ambarish, alok, balaji but sandeep is the
only one who bats, bowls, keeps and then fields at the highest
level...hes the best plyr usf has evr had...period

Batsman
my fav batsmen to watch r jyothi for the style, shiraj for the
explosiveness, rajesh for the class, and umair for being at a
totally diff level!

Bowler
another easy one, pranav, i hv never seen him bowl badly, always
economical and takes wickets, has won with every team he has been
part of...and then its shiva sr..he has a lot of variety and bowls
well at the crunch...birju has a beautiful bowling action but then
he got a crazy idea of concentrating on batting and stopped bowling
altogether!

Hard hitter
i hv seen shiraj hit a cric ball like crazy but he fails with the
tennis ball for some reason...umair too...then there r the others
like muzzafar, tejas, kunal and ofcourse giri

Fastest bowler
tough to say, i hv never noticed any ones pace...but jothi is
probably the quickest..when alok bowls the ball skids a lot and he
has a short run up, so probably him too

Fielder
sandeep again...not sure how many ppl saw him stumping off jyothis
bowling..so u can imagine how good he is...and his outfielding is
too good...after him its gokul...he always gv it his 100% on the
field evn during practice....

Match
the game we played against Blues last tournament when we beat them
by 1 run....our team nvr fielded like it did that day...
